Class Experience

Class 1: Micro-controllers
In this class we will learn about the Arduino Microcontroller & how this controller acts like a brain. We will write a program that will allow our microcontroller to "talk" to components connected to it. We will also get familiar with the TinkerCAD online workspace

Class 2: Servo Motors
We will discover motors. We will take a look into different types of motors such as dc motors, stepper motors, and servo motors. We will write a small Arduino program that will control a servo motor.

Class 3: Motion Sensors
In this class we will learn and work with a motion/proximity sensor that allows an object to sense the world around it. This sensor is used to detect if a person is near or far or if they are moving near or moving farther away. We will explore the science concept of the dopplar effect and how this sensor uses the dopplar effect to "see" objects that are near or far. We will write a small Arduino program that will respond to our motion sensor

Class 4:
We will combine two pre-written programs into a final program that will control the opening or closing of a box based on a person's motion

Class5:
We will put all the pieces together to complete the final project. Students will build their box in this final class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about:
1. Programming & Coding
2. Arduino microcontroller
3. Motors (robotic motion)
4. Motion & proximity sensor
5. How to convert rotational motion into linear motion
learning goal

Parental Guidance
Parents, you will need to get the resources included on the class resource list for your student to participate. Many of the resources can be found on Amazon. We will be using the online tool TinkerCAD to write the Arduino programs for each class. Once your student has enrolled you will receive the link to our online classroom on TinkerCAD. Parents, students that still want to participate in the class can do so without any hands-on devices if they want by doing the same activities virtually using the TinkerCAD online tool. You will need to setup a FREE account so they can follow along
Supply List
Students will need the items on the attached file for class. Most items are easy to find on Amazon.
The attached file provides links and descriptions for each resource, don't hesitate to ask me any questions about resources.
 5 files available upon enrollment
