Class Experience

In this class, students will learn what it is like to be an engineer! Have you ever wondered what engineers do and how they solve problems? We will take a look at the engineering design process and how engineers apply the steps to solve problems. This is the same process I use while working with NASA.

Students will know the steps of the engineering design process.
How to apply the steps when solving problems.
How to work through the steps in day to day problems.
Students will solve a problem of their own using the engineering design process.

Take this mini dive with me into the engineering world!

Hello!

My name is Ashley Pederson and I am a certified CTE STEM high school engineering teacher. I have been a STEM teacher for over 10 years, to all grades, K-12. In addition to teaching, I am also a contract engineer for NASA. My students and I build hardware for the ISS that is used by astronauts.

I have spent over a decade building my STEM program that not only allows my students to solve real world problems but also prepares them for industry work and the university pathway. In addition to working with NASA, my students and I also work alongside the Colorado School of Mines, the University of Colorado, NanoRacks, Lockheed Martin and various other engineering companies.

I believe that STEM and engineering should be accessible to everyone and I am so excited to share my passion for STEM with you! I hope to see you in class as I offer my expertise to you!
