Captain Wright has requested assistance from the engineers of ArtaMix creations. He is looking for a new hull design for his ships. He needs some small enough to get in tight places, strong enough to support a lot of weight, but not too heavy that it sinks. Our engineers are charged with creating multiple tested models for the Captain, so he has options. Class will begin with introductions and a brief review of needed supplies. I will explain the goal and the parameters that students must follow while building. I will bounce from whole group, to individual students and back to whole group to assist and guide where needed. When time is called, students will use coins to see how strong their bridge is. We will discuss as a class things we liked about each others creations, and reflect on what each student could do differently next time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello my name is Mrs. Mixson, and I am so excited to teach classes here on Outschool! I am a licensed Elementary and Middle School Math teacher. My goal is to allow students to take an inquiry approach to their learning with real world situations. Learning through inquiry allows students to develop an understanding for content in their own time and method.
While education is key to success, the arts are my passion. One of my teaching goals is to allow my students to express their creativity in their own unique way. My philosophy is if the student is having fun while learning they will grow in learning. I also love to sing and find creative ways to combine fun with work.
