4 live meetings
2 hrs 20 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, students will complete hands-on science and art activities to explore and find answers. Students will make hypothesis, design/plan, complete experiments, complete art projects, read books, and watch videos to find their answers. There is also a discussion time to share thought, ideas and ask questions. Each student will be given the opportunity to speak and share their ideas and questions. Have you ever wondered: 1. Why does one thing float and another sink? Students will complete 2 experiments 1. sink/float experiment with items from around the house 2. Design, engineer, test their boat and redesign as needed. 2. How are rainbows made? Students will make their own rainbows (mirrors, light, CD and water) experiments Science: Grow a rainbow Art: Primary colors, mix secondary colors and paint their own rainbow. 3. Why don't we fall off the Earth's surface? Learn about Gravity (Galileo, Newton), read book about gravity. Complete gravity experiments (easy with thing around the house) Gravity Painting 4. What are magnets and how do they work? Students will use magnets to explore magnetic and non-magnetic items (gather items from around the house) Learn how magnets attract and repel Science Experiments: Defy gravity with a magnet, paperclip challenge, and Magnet Compass Art: Magnetic painting Design Magnet Maze You will be provided with a materials list of items your student will need to complete these experiments. I will be demonstrating each of these experiments/art during class and students can follow along with the class. This will be time for your student to explore and learn by doing. I look forward to sharing my love of science and about amazing world. Email me if you have any questions. I will provide handouts and materials list for students to complete the hands-on experiments and art projects. I'd love for you to share what you wonder about and I might add it as a class in the future!

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I have working in public, private and charter schools. I've worked with homeschooling families and I also homeschooled my own children. I hold a CA Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and my Montessori Early Childhood Certificate. I am also about to complete my Master degree in Creative Writing.
I am still a curious learner and love to pass that curiosity along to my students. I love to guide students through the process of reading (phonics to blending sounds into words!) numbers, and math concepts. I am passionate about guiding students to wonder about the world around us and discovering new things through science and cultural studies.
My classes guide student to become independent learners and to be curious about the world around them.
