Description

Class Experience

In this class, students will complete hands-on science and art activities to explore and find answers.  Students will make hypothesis, design/plan, complete experiments, complete art projects, read books, and watch videos to find their answers.  There is also a discussion time to share thought, ideas and ask questions.  Each student will be given the opportunity to speak and share their ideas and questions.

  1.  Why does one thing float and another sink?
          ...

Students will learn to ask questions and how to find the answers.  
Learn to be curious.

Students can continue to ask questions and explore our weekly topic in more depth.  Would love for them to share what they have learned with the class.    
If student didn't complete hands-on activity with us (art or experiment) they can complete on their own

I will be sending you a weekly supply list for our projects (most things you will have at home)
Some basic things you have: 
   plastic tub to put water in, foil, magnets (two would be good to show how they repel each other), paint & paintbrush (tempura - red/blue/yellow and watercolor paint) , small piece of bubble wrap, pennies.  Items in house that would be magnetic/non-magnetic and items that will sink/float.  

I will send list each week.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Assessment done during class through informal observations.

35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

I will provide my created materials and books about each of the topics (non-fiction).
