Class experience
In this hands-on course, preschool and kindergarten-aged students will meet once a week to complete a fun new activity that corresponds with our monthly themes (see below for themes and sample activities). Each class will open up with a fun ice-breaker including "Would you rather?" questions, show-and-tell, and sharing fun facts about ourselves with the class. Students will be introduced to the various aspects of STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in a fun and age-appropriate way.
**A weekly breakdown of supplies will be provided in the classroom!** Past: September: apples, toothpicks, construction paper October: pumpkin, golf tees or toothpicks, rubber bands, baking soda, soap, vinegar November: leaves, coffee filters, rubbing alcohol, crayons and white paper December: white washable paint, alka-seltzer, oil, water, mini marshmallows, toothpicks January: assorted marshmallows, toothpicks, ziplock bag, baking soda, vinegar, hair conditioner, cornstarch, assorted craft supplies February: conversation hearts, baking soda, vinegar, straw, tape, craft sticks, m&ms or skittles, pipe cleaner, string, Epsom salt or Borax June- July: small dinosaur figures, various dry pastas, liquid school glue, construction paper, baking soda, vinegar, straws or toothpicks Reminders will be posted in the classroom weekly.
Parental assistance may be needed as we complete science experiments and activities that include the use of scissors and household supplies.
