In this 5-day, hands-on, summer camp, we'll create art that puts STEAM to the test! From sugar scrub and 3D paper flowers to string art and sock octopuses, this class is a creative exploration of science and art or, STEM + ART = STEAM.

Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about: 1. The body's largest organ, the skin (Dermatology) 2. Basic flower anatomy (Botany) 3. How a red fox's body changes in fall and throughout all the seasons (Zoology) 4. Octopuses - the ocean’s Intelligent Invertebrate (Marine Science) 5. Conversation- what it is, how we can help and, ways to transform something old, into something new (Environmental Science)
Some classes will require prep work prior to class beginning. Such work may include cutting materials ahead of time so they are ready to assemble during class.
Most activities will require a pencil, scissors, cardstock, coloring implements, and glue. A specific supply list will be sent several days before each class begins. A few activities require special items like an embroidery needle (fox string art).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Most activities will be completed during class time, however, a couple may need to dry overnight. Some pre-class preparation is also required. Parental guidance is required for the use of scissors.
