This is an ongoing, play-based STEAM class. Students will gain key science knowledge through creating plants, animals, insects, and other objects from nature out of clay or modeling dough. While enjoying the creative process, the students will meet lesson objectives though song, poetry, and games. The class will conclude with a sharing time where the students can display their modeling dough or clay creations and share what they learned about each amazing STEAM encounter! Learning Goals
1. The students will be able to create an object from nature from modeling dough or clay.
2. The students will be able to name key characteristics of this object.
3. The students will be able to participate in group activities to deepen their understanding of each lesson topic.
4. The students will be able to evaluate what they like about their individual projects.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parents, please be advised that students may need assistance with using scissors to cut pieces of pipe cleaner or toothpicks to make joints and/or legs for several of the projects.
Supply List
1. Modeling dough or clay in a variety of colors 2. A piece of cardboard, cookie sheet, or other hard, flat object that can be used as a tray on which to create each project 3. Pipe cleaners or toothpicks to be used for joints and legs in various projects *I will post a class message if there are additional items needed for any of the lessons.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! I am excited to meet you on the Outschool platform! I have been an Elementary & Middle School teacher since 2002. I have been teaching ESL online since January of 2020. I enjoy teaching learners of all ages and abilities. I believe that children learn best through play, fun and engaging activities, and hands-on exposure to the wonders of the world around them.

I am a grandmother to four precious grandchildren, including one beautiful girl with Down Syndrome. When I'm not playing in the online classroom, you will most likely find me playing with one of them! I can't wait to see you in my classroom!
