US Grade Preschool - 1
While learners learn about the different types of construction vehicles and equipment and tools found at most construction sites, they will also be practicing many skills. Such skills are public speaking, taking turns to speak, listening, communication skills, fine and gross motor skills, using their creative imaginations to create and engineer their own construction site using playdoh, magnatiles, kinetic sand, building blocks and more. Ms. Stephenie will present simple STEM/STEAM engineering processes appropriate for the age. The tentative schedule for the 3-day STEAM camp is as follows: Day 1: Students will learn about the various types of machines found at construction sites, and talk about what each construction vehicle does. There will be a fun art project (worksheet and instructions will be posted before class as simple materials will need to be prepared, in advance) to begin during class and can be finished independently at home after the class ends. Day 2: Construction signs, tools and equipment used at construction sites will be discussed and students are more than welcome to share their toy tools, if they have any. There will be a matching activity included (worksheet will be posted before class) and an activity for students to design their own site (ie. house, zoo, castle, tower, bridge, skyscraper, and etc.) with their unlimited imaginations will begin during class. Day 3: After a quick review of the construction vehicles, signs, and tools, learners will have the opportunity to show and tell about their favorite trucks or tools. They can share their art project or the site they built during the camp. They can show their drawings, or show toys. Every learner will have the same amount of time (max of 2 minutes) to present. Come learn about the amazing strong machines and equipments that fulfill a number of functions at a construction site, such as hauling building materials, hauling out torn down parts and more while practicing many different skills.
Learning Goals
Students will improve communication skills, public speaking, listening skills, creative thinking, fine and gross motor skills with the art projects, taking turns, learn about various construction trucks, vehicles, equipment, tools and signs found at construction sites.

Students will be using kinetic sand, playdough, blocks, bricks, or even paper to construct their own structure (ie. bridge, building, house and etc.). Use any supplies you already have at home (no need to purchase anything). Ms. Stephenie encourages creativity during the engineering/design process, so please use any toys or art supplies you already have at home.
