***In the live class that I offer on this topic, I have taught over 1300 learners and have 290+ reviews to help guide me in developing an extended and flexible curriculum to support families and learners through these tough topics. If your learner has experienced this live class this would be a wonderful class to refresh their learning. (https://outschool.com/classes/staying-safe-strangers-and-tricky-people-ylPdOl8l?usid=VbdChdTp&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link) In this five part self-paced class learners will be guided through information and scenarios to better develop their awareness and understanding of safety with strangers and tricky people. The course will consist of pre recorded videos for each lesson. Learners will be encouraged to respond to questions and have the opportunity to share their questions and thoughts by posting in the classroom or sending me a private message to which I will respond by text and/or personal video messages. Learners will also have optional extension activities and worksheets that will be posted in the classroom with each lesson. OUTLINE: Lesson One: Defining Strangers & Tricky People Lesson Two: Body Autonomy “I’m the boss of my body!” Lesson Three: Detective Time– Tricky People Tricks Lesson Four: Tricky People that I know & Secrets Lesson Five: Family Safety Plans & Review I will NOT discuss private parts or touching of private parts, however, this is a great segway into discussing these sensitive topics with your learner in a way you feel most comfortable. Here is an excellent guide I found if you need some more support in having these conversations: https://www.heysigmund.com/body-safety-empowering-kids-stay-safe-safe-jayneen-sanders/ This is a course created to support families with these tough topics. As I wrap up I always remind the students that their trusted adults might change the rules we discussed or have more rules. It is important to know that learners’ families and trusted adults know best on how to keep them safe. Please see syllabus for more more details on each lesson and reach out with ANY questions you have about this course.
