In this 5 week course we will look at the basketball teams competing in the NCAA March Madness tournament, determine which statistics influence the success of each team and use the statistics to create our brackets for the 2023 tournament.

Class Experience
The students will: - learn about bivariate data and strengths of relationships - learn about the bracket structure of the NCAA Men's basketball tournament - learn how to use statistics/mathematics to make predictions - have the opportunity to share thoughts and opinions regarding college basketball
I am a licensed math teacher and former basketball coach with thirteen years of classroom experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. I have worked as a Math Specialist/Interventionist. My student have experienced exceptional progress as measured by local, state and national metrics.
The students will be encouraged to explore statistics and create a bracket for the Men's 2023 NCAA Basketball Tournament.
NCAA Tournament bracket printed (supplied).
Formatively assessed during class participation.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be looking at team statistics using ESPN.com and Realgm.com. They will be calculating correlation coefficients using socscistatistics.com.
