In this one-time fun, interactive class and with the use of Google Slides and gummy candy for illustration purposes, students will learn to calculate mean, mode and median of numbers in a data set. Students are asked to come to class with their favourite pack of gummy candy. (This is optional). Agenda - Welcome and Introduction - Students are asked to separate their gummy candy into piles representing the various colours and then count the number of gummies in each pile. The number of gummies in each pile for all the students and teacher are added up to form the data set. (10 mins) - Mean, mode and median are explained and illustrated using examples. (10 minutes) - Mean. mode and median are then calculated using the data set for the gummies . (20 minutes) - Wrap-Up and Summary (5 mins)

Students will understand the concepts of mean, mode and median and learn how to calculate mean, mode and median of numbers in a data set.

Supply List
Please come to class with pen, paper and a device that can do simple calculations e.g. mobile device with a calculator function, calculator. Students are also asked to come to class with their favourite pack of gummy candy. (This is optional).
