Does your budding entrepreneur child want to start their own business selling things they make on Etsy? Let me walk them through the steps to success! Etsy is a great platform for selling handmade products online to people all over the world.

This is a SELF PACED class - which means there are NO LIVE CLASSES. Instructional videos will be posted for your learner to watch, as well as optional classroom discussion. The more your learner participates the more value they will get from this class!

Topics will include (but are not limited to):
* deciding what to make & sell
* calculating pricing
* signing up for & setting up your Etsy shop
* how to take good product photos
* writing good product descriptions
* Etsy keywords & SEO (search engine optimization)

Please see the attached Syllabus for details on each Lesson.

For them to most effectively complete this course students will need:
* whatever supplies & tools are necessary to create their products
* a computer with internet access
* a camera of some kind & a way to edit photos
* a calculator (physical or digital)
* a postage scale

Students MUST be at least 13 years of age to create an Etsy shop. A parent or legal guardian will need to be involved in the process of setting up & running an Etsy shop per their guidelines for those ages 13-17. Please see the parental guidance in the class listing for more details.

Parental Guidance
It is required that an adult parent or legal guardian be involved in the creation & maintenance of their child's Etsy shop. Please see the following statements from Etsy, taken from https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040983333-Can-Minors-Buy-or-Sell-on-Etsy : Minors between the ages of 13 and 17 are permitted to use Etsy’s services only if they have the appropriate permission and direct supervision of their parent or legal guardian. The account must be registered with the parent or legal guardian’s information. Their parent or legal guardian is responsible for any and all account activity conducted by a minor on the account. If your child is between the ages of 13 and 17 and wishes to use Etsy, the account must meet the following criteria: - All financial information on the account must be under the parent or legal guardian’s name. - The full name on the account must be the parent or legal guardian’s name. - If a minor has a shop, the parent or legal guardian must be listed as the owner on the shop’s About page. Minors may not be listed as a shop owner. - The email address on the account must be registered to the parent or legal guardian. Minors under 13 may not use Etsy under any circumstances. I have been an entrepreneur for most of my life! I have had both in-person & online business ventures. Currently, along with being an Outschool instructor, I also run an Etsy shop of my own. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts, as well as an Associates degree in Digital Photography & a Certificate in Digital Design. My professional career has been in the graphic design & photography fields. My personal life includes many creative hobbies & pursuits, including drawing, painting, jewelry making, cross stitch, crochet & book making.
