1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, students will learn about seeds, seedlings, the things needed to help plants grow, and will begin their own outdoor flower or garden plants inside. This class will be highly interactive and hands-on. We will get our hands dirty, and start some garden seeds! While we are beginning seeds, we will also discuss the parts of seeds, parts of seedlings, and factors necessary for germination. After planting, the teacher will give instructions on how to keep seedlings healthy and when/how to move them outdoors. This class is very similar to one of my other classes. However, due to the late time of season, this class has been reduced to a one-day class in order to get seedlings started quicker for outdoor planting. PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS WILL NEED SPECIAL SUPPLIES FOR THIS CLASS. They will need seeds to plant, a potting medium such as potting soil or seed starting mixture, and containers to plant seeds in. I will have pictures posted on the classroom page for examples of potting containers you probably have around your house, and a list of the seeds that are better to begin inside versus the ones that you should plant directly outdoors. If you have any questions regarding these materials, please contact me on the classroom page before class begins. Thank you! I'm looking forward to starting some seeds!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Teacher Kathryn. Before we had children, I was a psychologist with a private practice. During that time, I also taught part time for a local college and fell in love with teaching. Now, I am a full-time, homeschooling mom. I have tutored students in English skills online for the past two years. This has helped me to develop skills that make online learning effective for students. I also teach for a local homeschool group and children's classes at our church. My teaching goal is for students to have fun and LEARN TO LOVE what they are learning, because interest makes the best teacher! I hope to see your child in class! -Kathryn
