Welcome back! During "Start With Art!", the goal was to build a positive mindset and be introduced to basic art principles. This helped you gain skills and confidence. In "Start With Art! II", we put your skills to more use with lots of studio time to create some of your own short-term projects. We also viewed and created reproductions of some artwork from famous artists. During "Start With Art! III", the art class grew your organization and planning skills while giving you plenty of time and practice honing your artistic skills. In this final class of the series, we will put all you have learned and practiced to use creating your very own curated collection of artwork. This class helps you build a portfolio you could use to show off your skills for school programs, hone your skills and style, or simply for your own enjoyment. This is an advanced course that requires planning and focus, so I highly recommend taking the first 3 courses or having a good artistic background and desire to work on long-term goals. The course schedule is listed here: Week 1: Self-Portrait Students will start work on a self-portrait for their portfolio with my guidance and help. Week 2: Self-Portrait Students will finish their self-portrait. If they finish one with time to spare, they will create another self-portrait. Week 3: Landscape Students will start work on a landscape with guidance and help. Week 4: Landscape Students will finish their landscape. If they finish one with time to spare, they will create another landscape. Week 5: Still Life Students will start work on a still life with guidance and help. Week 6: Still Life Students will finish their still life. If they finish one with time to spare, they will create another still life. Week 7: New Medium Students will start a project in a medium they do not typically use to build their range and skills. For example, a student who always paints will be encouraged to draw or sculpt to try something new. They will have my guidance and help on using a medium they do not normally use. Week 8: New Medium Students will finish up their project in a new medium on this day. Week 9: Graduation Day Students will celebrate the last day of class with a short presentation of their favorite works, which may or may not include all portfolio work created in this class at their discretion. The teacher will do a small presentation about each student's achievements honoring the students. Then we will have some time for fun and games and sharing our favorite art class memories!
Learning Goals
Students will finish the series and refine their artistic skills. They will learn more technical skills and planning skills.
