COUPON CODE FELICIASWAFALL2215 FOR $15 OFF IF YOU ENROLL BY JULY 31 Are you ready to become an artist? It's simple: start with art! In this class, we learn to be thinkers, be observers, be consistent, create daily, and keep a positive mindset. Learners will be asked to keep a portfolio for their work, so please be prepared by acquiring a sketchbook or any blank paper with a folder for organization (plus drawing materials). Class will have a presentation component in which we share sketches...
This class is taught in English.
Long-Term (End-of-Course) Goals: Learners will build the skills to become consistent, positive artists. Short-Term Goals: These three goals hang on our classroom wall so that every learner can refer back to them. We touch upon these goals week-to-week. They are our smaller goals that help us reach the larger goals. First, we know we are artists. Second, we carry our materials. Finally, we create daily.
Learners will be expected to create artwork daily. I recommend 2D materials for ease and convenience, but I welcome 3D media, also. Whatever media learners choose, it simply needs to be documented daily to show growth. Learners can keep pictures of 3D work that may not last permanently in either digital or physical formats. Time of completion does not need to be long. Learners can complete homework in as little as a few minutes or as long as a few hours depending on their preference. I ask that they do what works best for their schedule and artistic goals.
Learners will need art materials. A sketchbook with drawing supplies is recommended, but supplies could be loose-leaf paper in a folder, 3D materials, or any other material your child would like to explore! The sky's the limit! Just make sure the materials can be easily accessed by your child every day, are easily portable, and use your best judgement on your child's safety and ability to use materials.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress will be assessed through artwork creation. If they are keeping up with their daily work and building up a portfolio, the learner is considered to be progressing. We will have showcases in Weeks 5 and 9 to celebrate learner artwork.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
