Beginner Level
Recorder is a wonderful instrument for students to learn! Although it is often thought of as a kids instrument this is far from the truth. The recorder can be played at a high level of artistry. It also happens to be an affordable and accessible instrument for second to fifth grade students to play. The concepts and skills learned here can help students prepare for playing other instruments or continuing to play the recorder. While having fun playing an instrument, students will learn how to listen for pitch and rhythm. We will also cover the basics of how music is written. Lessons will delivered by short video lessons that can be replayed by students as many times as needed. This course also includes a workbook for student to use. It contains music examples, a practice log, certificate of completion, and charts to record how to play each note. Students will also be able to ask questions and submit video clips for feedback during the six week class. I recommend purchasing the class as a whole so that students can move through lessons at their own pace rather then waiting for weekly access. The entire workbook can also be printed at the start of class so students can get easily work through it. However, this class can also be purchased weekly.
