The online classroom and discussion posts will be a safe space for students to share their channel ideas, videos, thumbnails, etc. for teacher review, encouragement, and critique if wanted asked for. ▪️ Week 1 ~ Students are encouraged to set up, customize, and create branding images for their own YouTube channel. ▪️ Week 2 ~ Students are encouraged to complete competitor research using the provided worksheets and then plan & film their own video. ▪️ Week 3 ~ Students are encouraged to edit their videos using the tips demonstrated in the lesson videos. ▪️ Week 4 ~ Students are encouraged to upload their videos to their YouTube channel; create an eye-catching video title, description, & thumbnail; and use the YouTube Studio to add an end-screen and info cards.Certificate of Completion

Have you always wanted to start a YouTube channel, but just don’t know where to start? Maybe you already have a channel but are feeling overwhelmed and want to make sure you are starting off on the right foot. Whether you just want to share your passion with the world or have dreams of being the next big YouTube star, then this Self-Paced course is for you! At your own pace, you’ll follow along with my pre-recorded videos where I’ll teach you how to set up your own YouTube channel and begin to film, edit, and upload videos that you can be proud of. Essentially, you’ll learn how to start a YouTube channel (the right way)! Take a look at the Syllabus for a Weekly Project Breakdown and the lessons and skills you will learn throughout the class. I have been creating YouTube videos for over 6 years now and have accumulated over 50,000 subscribers and 2.5 million views on my channels. — I’m excited to share all of my knowledge and tips based on my own YouTube experiences as a creator on the platform, giving you the solid foundation that you need to see future success. ~ FREEBIES ~ In addition to the Lesson Videos, this course is full of tons of freebies and printable guides to help you get started; like templates you can use to easily create your channel profile picture, channel banner, and video watermark on Canva, as well as brainstorming and planning worksheets to help you create killer content. ~ WHAT TO EXPECT ~ This is a Self-Paced course. This means that there are no live meetings. Student will learn through pre-recorded lesson videos and work through the lessons on their own time. This means that learners will be able to pause, re-watch, and create their channels and videos at their own pace. Learners can post any questions that might come up in the classroom posts or message the teacher directly. ~ PLEASE BE AWARE ~ I will be giving tips on how to film and edit videos and will show a video editing demonstration using Canva, but students may need to adjust depending on their own equipment, software, and devices. We will briefly touch on some tips to grow your channel as you get started, but this course is more geared toward beginners. This course stresses the importance of staying safe online and seeking parental guidance throughout their YouTube journey as minors. ~ WHY START A CHANNEL ~ YouTube is a great space to explore interests and is a fun way to unleash your creativity, use your voice, and foster community. Learn how to create your own profile image, channel banner, and video watermark. Lesson 4:
Privacy & Safety
Learn about why and how to stay safe when sharing videos online. You'll also learn how to disable and filter out certain comments on your channel + other helpful channel settings that can help keep your channel a positive space. Other Details
Parental Guidance
YouTube:
You must be 13 years or older to create a YouTube account. Therefore students under 13 must create and run their account with the help of a parent or guardian. Children between ages 13 and 17 must obtain parental permission before opening an account. It is important that parents monitor their children’s activity when creating a Youtube channel.
Canva:
In this class, I will be using Canva to demonstrate how to create branding graphics and edit videos. Canva is a free and easy-to-use graphic design and video editing platform that is accessible via your web browser. No software download is required. Although Canva can be used without creating an account, I highly recommend creating one so that you can save your designs, videos, and uploaded media files. Canva also has apps for editing on your smartphone or tablet available on iOS and Android. Canva has a paid, Pro version, but I will do my demonstrations using the free version.
PhotoRoom:
I will be using the web version of PhotoRoom to show learners how they can quickly remove the background from images. PhotoRoom is free and no account is required to remove the background from a single photo. PhotoRoom is also available as an app on iOS and Android devices.
Supply List
To start a YouTube channel, learners will need a way to record, edit, and upload videos. Equipment and software options will be discussed in class. Video creation over the course of the class is encouraged but not required to participate and learn.
