Vincent Van Gogh's painting of A Starry Night is well known. In this one time class, learners will be inspired to create a different scene but use the same style as Van Gogh. After introductions, we will go over how to take turns in the ZOOM classroom. The materials list will be gone over to insure all learners are prepared. The book 'Vincent's Colors' will be read and discussed. Using their imaginations, the learners will choose where they want their setting to be in their painting (farm, desert, beach, playground, etc). Step by step instructions will be given with room for the learner to add their own style. What is involved in making a landscape will be talked about as well as using mixed media in the paintings (paint, pastels, markers). Movement will also be addressed. How did Van Gogh create movement in his sky? The learners will be encouraged to share their paintings at the end of class.
