1-2 hours per week. Each week students will receive instructional information on how to complete the week's writing assignment based on the theme or focus for the week. Once completed they will share their paragraphs and assignment in the Outschool classroom where they will be able to view other assignments, give and receive feedback, comment, and interact with the teacher.Assessment
There will not be a formal assessment. I will check the assignments for clarity and a general understanding. If there are major spelling or grammatical errors I will address those. Mistakes are OK, and I will not overly focus on fixing every problem with the writing assignments.Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away.... Each week we will discuss different aspects of the star wars universe and focus on a new element of writing for each. We will learn to build a paragraph, write a descriptive paragraph, write a letter, respond to questions or writing prompts, build off of each other's ideas during discussions, and more. Some knowledge of the Star Wars themes and movies are preferred. Each week students will receive a new prompt, sometimes a worksheet, that they will be able to work on. This will be uploaded each Sunday before class. They will have access each week to an instructional video, as well as detailed instructions on how to complete that week's assignment. Once uploaded to the classroom the students will discuss their thoughts on their own assignment, as well as receiving feedback. This class is great for those Star Wars lovers who want to learn to write in a variety of ways! Learning is accomplished through the use of pre-recorded class videos (NO LIVE MEETINGS). This course will cover: Poem, hamburger paragraph, descriptive brochure, writing letters and instructions, comparative and persuasive writing, opinion and creative writing, and story During these classes I will help facilitate constructive and fun discussions. We will learn new concepts each week in regards to different elements of writing. The students are welcome to share what they are working on during these classes and receive feedback for their work. I will not be hyper-focused on spelling or grammatical errors. They are bound to happen. I will be focusing on the key elements to make sure the student understand the concepts and HOW to write. Transfers cannot be made within 24 hours of class start time. Please refer to Outschool's transfer/refund policy for more info. ++++++++++ Feel free to check out all my Star Wars classes: Star Wars: Jedi Training Workout for Kids Star Wars: Jedi Character Workout for Kids Star Wars: Sith Training Workout for Kids Star Wars: Ultimate Jedi/Sith/Lightsaber Training Workout Camp for Kids Star Wars: Ultimate Jedi/Sith/Lightsaber Training Workout Camp for Kids (FLEX) Star Wars The Mandalorian: Baby Yoda Yoga Workout Class for Kids Star Wars: Share and Teach Star Wars: Story Time and Activity Star Wars: Story Time and Activity (FLEX) Star Wars: Lightsaber Training Class for Kids (Beginners) Star Wars: Lightsaber Training Class for Kids (Intermediate) Star Wars: Lightsaber Training Camp for Kids (Beginner to Intermediate) Star Wars: Create a Character Writing Class Star Wars: Out of This World Writing Class Star Wars: Weekly Themed Writing (FLEX) Star Wars Virtual Escape Room: Escape from the Death Star Star Wars: Semester of Fun Star Wars: Jedi Training for Tots (3-7) Star Wars: Jedi Training for Tots (FLEX) Star Wars: Lightsaber Training for Kids Intermediate-Advanced (FLEX)

Syllabus
10 Lessons
over 10 WeeksLesson 1:
Favorite things-poem
We will talk about what makes a good Poem. We will have a Star Wars discussion on the Outschool classroom about our favorite Star Wars things. This could be ANYTHING related to Star Wars. The students will practice writing about their favorite thing using rhymes and stanzas. They will submit their finished work either publicly on the Classroom, or privately to me for revision.
Lesson 2:
Character- hamburger paragraph
In this class we will learn how to "hamburger" a paragraph together.
We will learn the 3 elements of a paragraph: the paragraph leader, supporting sentences and concluding sentence. I will give examples of good and bad paragraphs. The students will receive a handout. The students will unlock a special character using a "key" they will receive before class. They will write at least one paragraph about their invented character. They may continue to write about this character after class is over if
Lesson 3:
Location- descriptive brochure
We will talk about different locations in the Star Wars saga: where battles took place, the students' favorite planets, etc. We will discuss descriptive paragraphs. I will show examples. The students will then write an outline for a descriptive paragraph about a planet or location they make up. They will also be able to draw/color their location, add details, and fun facts using a Brochure printout.
Lesson 4:
Supporting roles- letter writing
There are many lead characters in Star Wars. Sometimes supporting roles are just as important. In this class we will talk about how to write a good letter. We will discuss a situation where one of our friends is in a tight spot and we need to write them a letter of encouragement to cheer them up. The letters will be uploaded to the classroom where we will share our thoughts and feedback with each other.
