Star Wars: Watch Party Extravaganza!
Each week students will discuss, analyze, and watch a different Star Wars film or series of TV show episodes. As an ongoing class, we will be visiting all parts of the Star Wars Universe. Make sure to check our schedule!
Star Wars: Watch Party Extravaganza! is a class made specifically for Star Wars superfans. Each time we meet we will watch in its entirety one Star Wars film, or a series of TV show episodes (an arc in Clone Wars, for example). While we watch we will discuss and analyze our favorite scenes and characters, and learn about the filmmaking craft that enabled the creation of the Star Wars universe. PLEASE NOTE: 1) All students will need to have their own individual Disney+ accounts, so that...
With the breadth and depth of the Star Wars universe as our canvas, while we watch the films and shows students get the opportunity to hone their critical thinking skills, as well as practice having respectful conversations with their peers. We will also discuss extensively topics specific to filmmaking, including: characterization, plot, special effects, dialogue, tone, cinematography, sound, marketing, script writing and more.
I am what you might call a Star Wars fanatic, and have seen all of the films and the majority of the TV shows too many times to count. My friends and I have spent many long nights discussing and debating every topic related to Star Wars. As a teacher, I have extensive experience in managing classroom discussions of all ages and ability levels. As we watch these shows and movies together, my goal is to ensure that every student has a chance to make contributions, provide their opinion, and/or demonstrate what they've learned.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
All Star Wars movies are rated PG or PG-13, and all TV shows are rated TV-14 or lower. Sci-fi violence and action are commonplace in the Star Wars universe. If you would like further information about expected content, please consider visiting each film or show's respective IMDB page (found on imdb.com). I'm also available to answer any questions you might have, so please don't hesitate to reach out!
Each student will need their own individual subscription to Disney+ to be able to participate in this class.
