Class Experience

Calling all trivia jedi and dark lords of the details! Up for a challenge? Every third Thursday of the month join me and all your friends from Outschool Star Wars classes for a test of your knowledge of a galaxy far far away.

Students will form teams of 2-4 and work together to answer fun, challenging questions about all things Star Wars. Topics range from fun and easy to frustrating and difficult. This is an opportunity to engage with peers, and get to know your friends from Outschool classes -- but hey, feel free to invite people new to Outschool too.

Here’s how it works:
1. We divide into groups of 2-4 in breakout rooms (a Zoom function that separates small groups from the larger classroom).
2. I’ll ask one question at a time to the whole class together.
3. Each team (breakout room) has 60 seconds to discuss among themselves and lock in an answer.
4. Repeat as time allows, with a goal of 30 questions.

After each question we’ll be together as a whole class to hear the next question, and after every few questions we’ll compare answers and check in with scores. When all the answers are in, I’ll tally the final scores and announce the winning team.

I hope to see you there! Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

Learning Goals

In the vein of the popular Star Wars Social Hour, this class aims to promote a sense of community among young Star Wars fans, and help them build the skills and confidence to proudly love what they love and connect with like-minded peers. While Star Wars has lately become fairly mainstream, it is not always easy to publicly embrace what we love. I was that kid. With this and all my Star Wars classes, I work to help students become comfortable owning what they love, speaking up for what they know, and respecting new ideas. This version of the approach offers an opportunity to practice what we’ve worked on in the more guided conversations of Social Hour: active listening, teamwork, and understanding.
