1-2 hours per week. Each lesson, I assign a short writing assignment focused around the theme. I also encourage students to submit their own creative writing (either from a story the students are working on or Star Wars fan fiction, if they prefer). I will critique submitted work based on an overall view of that week's theme along with some minor spelling and grammar as needed. There are also a number of supplemental activities.Letter Grade

US Grade 3 - 6
Each lesson, in a 15-30 minute video, will introduce students to a different element. This class does not meet live. The prerecorded sessions will discuss the lesson's current theme and how it relates to the Star Wars movies and TV shows specifically. Students will have access to the lesson's video and a corresponding one page worksheet that addresses/reminds them of some of the topics discussed (it will also have room for notes and some questions to consider answering). Each lesson, I assign a short writing assignment focused around the theme. I also encourage students to submit their own creative writing (either from a story the students are working on or Star Wars fan fiction, if they prefer). Students can submit up to 5 pages each week. I will critique submitted work based on an overall view of that lesson's theme along with some minor spelling and grammar as needed. In addition, each day I will post a Star Wars trivia, picture or question that relates to each lesson's theme. It is okay if students don't know the answer to the question (based on their own personal Star Wars knowledge). But they can use it to learn more about the lesson's writing theme as the task is a concrete example of the theme within the Star Wars universe.
Learning Goals
The prerecorded sessions emphasize writing themes with examples from the Star Wars Universe. Students can submit their own writing for feedback based on the lesson's theme. There are optional supplemental writing activities.

Parental Guidance
Star Wars is a universe about fighting, wars, death, and darkness. Half of the movies are rated PG-13. Some of the these movies have darker themes that may not be appropriate for all age groups.
Supply List
Each week, students will have access to a new video and a corresponding one page worksheet that addresses/reminds them of some of the topics discussed (it will also have room for notes and some questions to consider answering). Students should have a familiarity with at least some of the Star Wars universe. I will try to limit discussion to avoid spoilers in many different areas, as not all of the students will have seen all of the movies or all seasons of all of the television shows on Disney +
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from Spalding University
While earning my Master's Degree in Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults, I had endless discussions with my screenplay writer friends about the Star Wars Universe. Star Wars is so complex and ever growing that it seems impossible to know it all! Because the Star Wars galaxy is full of hints and questions, the movies and characters make great conversation! It is also nice to find other people who share a love for Star Wars, science fiction, and good storytelling.
