Star Wars Teaches You to Write

Each lesson, in a 15-30 minute video, will introduce students to a different element. This class does not meet live. The prerecorded sessions will discuss the lesson's current theme and how it relates to the Star Wars movies and TV shows specifically. Students will have access to the lesson's video and a corresponding one page worksheet that addresses/reminds them of some of the topics discussed (it will also have room for notes and some questions to consider answering). Each lesson, I assign a short writing assignment focused around the theme. I also encourage students to submit their own creative writing (either from a story the students are working on or Star Wars fan fiction, if they prefer). Students can submit up to 5 pages each week. I will critique submitted work based on an overall view of that lesson's theme along with some minor spelling and grammar as needed. 

In addition, each day I will post a Star Wars trivia, picture or question that relates to each lesson's theme. It is okay if students don't know the answer to the question (based on their own personal Star Wars knowledge). But they can use it to learn more about the lesson's writing theme as the task is a concrete example of the theme within the Star Wars universe.
