For all levels of writers! This screenwriting class introduces movie lovers the basics while we analyze the movies of Star Wars. This is the perfect chance for anyone imagining what it would be like to be in a galaxy far far away. Or maybe you want to be the next writer of Episode X. Students will even have the chance to create their own Star Wars themed screenplay! Classes start with writing exercises that put us or our own characters in Star Wars universe which will help us warm up our brains before coming back for our discussion of the day. With our discussions, we will watch clips from the series to understand our topic and then talk more about it with our group. When we are finished we will work on our own screenplays. This time is perfect for students to have some independent time or to chat with me and other students about their progress. This way students have a choice since somedays we need some writing advice and some days we just need to blast into hyperspace. Week 1 What makes a good character? Star Wars has plenty of notable heroes from Luke Skywalker to Princess Padme to even BB-8. Now it is our turn to make the perfect hero that will go on the ultimate adventure to save the galaxy! Week 2 Creating the perfect villain. Maybe more villains then heroes, and this series has some of the best in all cinema. Vader, Palpatine, Kylo Ren, but why are they so good? How did they write them like that? Let's explore! Week 3 Crafting our setting and exploring our story. So we have our characters, we have the adventure, we have the villain, but where does it all take place? A cold icy planet? An asteroid zooming outside a black hole? It's up to you to decide!

Hello everybody! I have been having the best time teaching on Outschool this year. My goal has been to help kids connect with one another in an engaging environment and so far I’d say that I have been successful!
A little about me: I am a college student at Metro State University working to become a high school literary teacher and possibly an English teacher in a French speaking country. I used to attend SCAD and study film until I transferred. Still, I love talking about and writing movies. My favorite movies being Good Will Hunting , The Empire Strikes Back, and Inside Out. Some of my favorite things to do I’m able to do on here such as play Smash Bros, teach, talk about writing, and especially discuss the inner workings of movies.
My goal here is to connect kids to one another online. Together we can relax by playing some Smash or do some writing. We can also learn more about movies so that one day we can create our own. Check out some of my classes, let me know if you have any questions, and I will see you soon!Reviews
