All of the reading passages are Star Wars themed and illustrated with hundreds of Star Wars characters, creatures, planets, star ships and more! Students will learn a variety of reading and writing skills from week to week. These skills include: -Reading Comprehension -Comparative and Superlative Adjectives - Verb Tenses - Simple, Compound, and Complex Sentences -Creative Writing (Outline, Sources) - Prefix/Suffix - Decoding - Proper Nouns - Commas - Possessive Form - Parts of Speech - Dialogue - Character Traits - Word Choice - Mood and more! This is an ongoing class. It for students 8-9 years old and around a 3rd grade level. Each week you are charged for the class as long as your stay enrolled. You may withdraw from class by Sunday to avoid being charged for the class the following week. You may join this class or un-enroll at any time. The content is different each time so you are never missing any information! Each week there are handouts that will need to be printed prior to class. These handouts are completed during class with the teacher through a PowerPoint presentation. We will meet each week in the Outschool classroom for class. There is no outside homework. If you are unable to make class, I do send the class video to students who are absent so that you make view the class video and complete the assignments missed on your own time. Below is the current schedule week to week. If you would like to attend one week and not the next that's fine. Hopefully this will give you a better idea as to what the focus is and which classes you would like to attend. Week 1: Prefix Week 2: Suffix Week 3: Decoding/ prefix/suffix/ alphabetical order Week 4: Homographs/ Write sentences using homographs Week 5: Proper Nouns/Writing sentence with correct proper nouns Week 6: Vowels/Sentence Punctuation Week 7: Commas, Possessive Form Week 8: Dialogue- Quotations Week 9: Verb Tenses Week 10: Future Tense/Comparative Adjectives Week 11: Superlative Adjectives/ Adverbs Week 12: Galactic Glossary Week 13: Parts of Speech/ Conjunctions Week 14: Simple Sentences/ Independent Clause/ Compound Sentences/ Complex Sentences/ Dependent Clause Week 15: Clauses/ Rebellion Readiness Survey Week 16: Reading Maps/ Responding in complete sentences Week 17: Pictographs/ Conclusion/ Temporal Words Week 18: Linking Words and Phrases/ Writing a Letter Week 19: Compare and contrast/ Venn Diagram Week 20: Writing an Opinion Paper Week 21: Create a Travel Brochure Week 22: Comparing and Contrasting two sources Week 23: Creating an Outline and First Draft Week 24: Grammar Checklist/ Rewrite Week 25: Setting/ Planet Paragraph writing Week 26: Main Idea and Details of a chapter Week 27: Character and Events Week 28: Word Choice for two passages Week 29: Scenes/ Mood/ Write a paragraph Week 30: Read/ Comprehend/ Retell/ Describe/ Connections Week 31: Poems/ Word Meanings/ Write your own poem Week 32: Read a Script/ Study the Script Week 33: Sequence of Events/ Create your own scene with dialogue Week 34: Writing to prompts/ graphic novel creations Week 35: Create your own character and planet Week 36: Create your own story

I have been teaching English Language Arts and Reading for six years now. I have my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a focus on English. I am Reading Endorsed for all grade levels and ESOL endorsed as well. I also have a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and a second Master's in Reading. I have a deep passion for teaching and get excited about reading. I want to share that excitement with my students and encourage them to get excited about reading as well.
