Description
Class Experience
Has the Mandalorian Din Djarin) always been one of your heroes? Then this class is for you! This is a highly-interactive, discussion-based class that encourages student engagement and conversation. I will structure our lesson by asking the students a series of open-ended questions (supplemented by a few video clips as well) as they relate to the Mandalorian and his journey through the Star Wars saga. In order to ensure that our discussion remains as orderly as can be expected, and so...
Students will be able to make connections to how the Mandalorian's journey in Star Wars contains valuable lessons that are applicable to our own lives. Students will also get the opportunity to hone their critical thinking skills, as well as practice having respectful conversations with their peers.
I am what you might call a Star Wars fanatic, and have seen the main films (and now the TV shows!) too many times to count. My friends and I have spent many long nights discussing and debating every topic related to Star Wars. As a teacher, I have extensive experience in managing classroom discussions of all ages and ability levels. My goal is to ensure that every student has a chance to make contributions, provide their opinion, and/or demonstrate what they've learned.
In the days prior to the meeting, I will provide a brief handout that contains guidelines for our discussion on our Classroom page, along with a list of a handful of questions and topics I plan for us to discuss.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will receive informal feedback from me in the Classroom chat, before and after our class. Feedback will also occur during the class session as well.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The Mandalorian's journey in Star Wars has its dark moments -- highlighted by his initial occupation as a bounty hunter. In addition to mild sci-fi violence being present throughout all the Star Wars films, themes of revenge, temptation, and betrayal are also prevalent.
