Star Wars is a franchise spanning a variety of films, television series, and books spanning across four decades and it shows no signs of slowing down. In November 2019, the streaming service Disney + was launched and with it Star Wars fans were given an expansion of the franchise with brand new and returning characters. Starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, the Andor series follows the efforts of Cassian Andor and his team who seek to undermine the tyrannical galactic empire. This series takes place five years before the events of the Rouge One Movie. Can this team of rebels unite a galactic rebellion to defeat the empire? We will not discuss any of the Skywalker Saga movies in this class, but our first class will cover Rouge One because the Andor series is a prequal series to the Rouge One movie. Even if we have seen the entire series already, I expect we should watch each episode prior to our discussion. You do not need to watch all of the episodes in the same week. I ask that you watch the one episode per week prior to attending class. A future class will cover Andor Season 2 During our discussion I will ask each learner to share what they liked and didn’t like about the episode then I will walk everyone through the episode scene for scene, I use this same approach for all of my Outschool film studies classes. A sample schedule has been included below. Andor does not show any blood. There are multiple scenes demonstrating gun violence, lightsaber duels, and murders. Parental consent is required for Disney Plus, an account is required.
