US Grade 5 - 8
In this one-time course, we will use the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to point out human rights violations in the Star Wars films. We will cover various topics in human rights including the right to life, liberty, happiness, property, and protection against discrimination. I will share some examples with the students then ask them how they can apply the skills they learned to the real world. I am very excited to teach this class and cannot wait to meet everyone! *A brief understanding of the Star Wars films is recommended, but not required.
Learning Goals
My goal is that the students will gain a brief understanding of human rights through something fun and exciting like Star Wars. I hope this inspires them to learn more about human rights and become advocates for people all over the world.
