In this four week flexible schedule program learners and the teacher together will plan, design, and create personalized rubber stamps for use in patterns, bullet journals, notebooks, and so much more. We will use drawing skills and apply them to our designs, transfer our designs to rubber block, and lino cut our designs. Finally, we will then apply our stamps to practical applications and go over longevity and care. Learners will share each stage of their process in the classroom for...
Project work will be expected to progress each week and be shared in the classroom before the new week begins. New material is released every week; this will ensure that all learners are working together and able to encourage one another as we progress through the materials.
Learners will require the following supplies: Sketchbook or sketch paper Pencil and eraser ruler (optional) Tracing paper Speedball Speedy carve block 4x3 Speedball linoleum cutter Washable ink stamp pad in black I recommend the materials found on this amazon list ( https://a.co/bG1MNX7 ), however you may find prices vary from store to store. I suggest searching for inexpensive sketch paper and tracing paper, pencils and erasers, at local arts and craft stores, walmart, even the dollar store. It is important, however, that you only use the speedball speedy carve block (pink) for this class. The softness of the block not only makes it easier to cut but also reduces the risk of accidents while still allowing precision.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be expected to use lino cutting tools to work on their final stamps. This MUST occur with ADULT supervision. While we will talk about safety in the classroom it is imperative that parents or caregivers are actively monitoring this part of the classwork to ensure that learners avoid any accidents. If your learner is not ready to handle sharp tools, please feel free to reach out to me for tips on how best to prepare for this type of 'hands on' work.
