Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
This creative, theater camp is great for total beginners or experienced performers!! as Mrs. T quickly assesses learners' levels and works to challenge and develop each learner during the week. Detailed notes are also provided after class to support each learner's learning further.

In this week-long theater camp learners will learn how to create their own completely original (never before seen) characters and how to put them into their own mini-performance piece.

On MONDAY- We'll start with an interactive theater class with warm-ups (vocal, mouth, and physical) and fun improv games (things like alphabet shops and change the channel). Before learners start to create their own original characters, using the clever playing card technique and simple things easily found around the house.
On TUESDAY- After warming up, learners will develop their new characters further by having them 'hotseated' and then by putting them into different improvised scenes and scenarios provided by Mrs. T. Learners will then be given ideas and steps on how to develop their character and create their own solo performance material.
On WEDNESDAY- Rehearsal time.
On THURSDAY- A chance to showcase our material, rehearse it and refine it together. We will also develop the character's voice, facial expressions, and body language to create an even more in-depth character.
On FRIDAY-A fun warm-up to get us in the mood before a splendid showcase, where learners share their work with the class, for comments and encouragement.

After each day's live meeting Mrs. T will post lots of helpful comments and instructions in the classroom to help learners develop their character, performance, skills, and confidence further.

Learners will end the week with an original character they can then call on in any improvisation, audition, show spot, mini-film, or devising opportunity. They will also learn ways they can continue to develop after the class, to create more original characters and build on it to create a one-man/woman show/film/YouTube channel or for a talent demonstration.

Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of Southampton
I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and some Music, PSHCE, and English) to 11 to 15 years olds and Performing Arts to 16 to 18 year olds in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence building  workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16.

As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties,  nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way.

I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos and have a regular podcast.

I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
