Class Experience

This will be a fun and simple step by step paint party session for children as we will all work to create the painting shown. Children will have fun as they blend colors to create this festive St. Patricks Day Painting. At the end of the session, we will celebrate with a mini guided dance party. If your child feels too shy or is not in the mood to dance that's ok too!

Teaching style: My teaching style is fun, attentive, and patient. I encourage all students to try their best by providing meaningful words of affirmation. I provide tips and techniques along the way to help you in the art creation process. Finally, I am adaptive to your needs. If you need clarification on anything, or if you need to move at a faster/slower pace, I will ensure that your artistic needs are met.

Experience needed: For a paint party your child should be able to hold a pencil and follow a simple draw along before painting. For this painting I will lead the children through drawing the teacup. Children should also be able to independently engage and focus on an activity for the duration of the class time listed. Finally, your child should be able to follow simple directions.

Hi everyone! My name is Jalilah and I am a NYC Early Childhood Art Educator. I have over 13 years of early childhood experience. In 2016 I transitioned from classroom teacher to art teacher and I haven't looked back since! My art curriculum is a blend of my core knowledge of best early childhood practices and carefully crafted art experiences. My art lessons incorporate movement, poems, storybooks, artist studies and art history. My mission is to make art accessible, inclusive and educational for children everywhere. My philosophy is art is essential in all children's lives because art encourages empathy, and helps children become more like themselves than everyone else.

I look forward to creating with your child :)
