In this class learners will have the opportunity to create their own slime. This will be a great way to teach learners all about following step-by-step directions will also involve some critical thinking about how these different ingredients combine to form the texture of slime. Learners will be involved in each of the steps in this process while also learning from other learners through interaction and conversation about their own creations of slime. Students will learn to use critical thinking skills by participating in an experiment of making slime as well as using comprehension skills while a story is read aloud the the students. Students will work on following step-by-step directions, making inferences, making text-to-world connections, and predicting what will happen when adding different ingredients to slime making and listening to the story.
Supplies needed for making the slime: -1/2 Cup of White Washable PVA School Glue -3 Cups of Foaming Shaving Cream -1/2 Tsp of Baking Soda - Green Food Coloring -1 Tbsp of Saline Solution (contains both sodium borate and boric acid as ingredients) -Bowl, Spoon, Measuring Cups and Spoons -Plastic or glass container with lid for storing slime after class -Paper towels/wipes for any messes :) -Optional- Glitter to add to the slime
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental Guidance will be needed due to the ingredients listed that may require assistance in measuring when making the slime.
