In this interactive class, children go on a treasure hunt in their home to find the Christmas cookie thief and missing treats. Spies must use critical thinking skills to follow the clues and solve the crime before Santa arrives!

Class experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Students will learn how spies use the "Scientific Method" to solve problems and answer question. They will heighten their power of observation using the five senses, unlock lateral and critical thinking skills, decipher codes and clues, and problem solve.
I'm a published fiction (mystery) and nonfiction author, former homeschool mom of four, and have taught and tutored all ages for close to 20 years. For the last 7 years, I've taught Spy Kids, first as a summer camp, then as a full curriculum with a homeschool co-op. Just this summer, over 300 children took my Spy Kids Academy camp. I created this course to give my Spy Kids graduates another mission to solve, however I've been designing and conducting successful interactive parties and programs for the last 25 years. I'm excited to take this new mission, and others, online to reach more students with the fun and educational activities.

IMPORTANT information for PARENTS:
Please have the HANDOUTS prepared and FINAL clues hidden and set up before class starts. Everything will be uploaded to the classroom page upon registration and delivered via email. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to contact me before the class begins if you will not be able to have the materials printed out and set up in the correct locations. We can always work through issues in advance, but it is heartbreaking when that one camper cannot fully participate because nothing is printed out and set up for him or her.

Parents should be close by in case their child needs help finding the clues and hidden items, however, I will also be there to assist each child. I guide them in discovering the answers, but each camper is on a separate mission in their own home. Mission problems can be avoided if parents read the step-by-step, detailed, easy set up checklist and follow it accordingly. It will be posted on the CLASSROOM PAGE upon registration. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION and understanding that this class requires PARENTAL PARTICIPATION, especially for the younger spies. It is NOT a lot of work, if you plan accordingly. And the supply list and materials are sent in advance. So don't wait until the night before to prepare or you may miss some important information. ****

***IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: I've never had any problems, but parent or guardian is responsible for supervision and safety of participant. Do not register for this class if the student may be unsupervised during this treasure hunt mission which takes place in your home. By registering for this class you are agreeing to the following:

Parents or guardians agree to take all necessary precautions and supervision to prevent injury to any persons or damage to property during the term of this class agreement, and shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the teacher and company from any claim, liability, loss, cost, damage, judgment, settlement or expense (including attorney’s fees) resulting from or arising in any way out of injury (including death) to any person or damage to property arising in any way out of any act, error, omission or negligence on the part of child, parent or guardian in the performance or failure to fulfill any supervision, safety precautions, or obligations under this Agreement.

Profile
I love seeing students get excited about writing, even reluctant writers. Ever since I was 8  years old, I've been journaling and writing poetry to express things I couldn't speak out loud or didn't know how to. My thoughts just came out better...
