Class Experience

I am a certified teacher and teach not only History but Ancient Cultures. I love teaching students that spies and ninjas really existed and that they had interesting methods of gathering information. I teach on the Cold War, and I think this was a very interesting time in history. Today, we have detectives and private eyes who can find information, use cool techniques to do so, and I want students to get to come, dive into the world of ancient spies, but get to feel like they are a modern day detective.

**Younger and older learners are welcome but message me to confirm.**

Class 1
We will do introductions. Then we will dive into the Cold War Era (spies and espionage - what was it, what did it mean to be a spy, and how did they live). We will also discuss KGB, CIA, Ninjas, and other organizations that relied on spies to get information. I will discuss famous spies during the Cold War and even famous Ninjas back in ancient Japan. I have some fun information and videos which will allows some fun conversation in class. We will also have some trivia pop-up questions for them to answer long the way.

Home Activity: Students will find one interesting spy gadget or invention from the Cold War era that was used and find out some info about it. They will share these in the next class. I expect everyone to participate in this. They will have a guide to follow. They can do this on paper, poster, or on the computer. They will have about 2 minutes to share, so make sure they stick to my guide and have facts, not paragraphs to share.

Class 2
We will discuss detectives and private eyes in today's world (what they do, how they solve crimes using evidence and critical thinking, and how they get information). Then students will present their invention or gadget they chose. We will also have some trivia pop-up questions for them to answer long the way.

Home Activity: Students will design or create their own spy gadget to invention. If they were going to be a spy, what would they use, what would it be, how would it look and what would it do. They can simply design it on paper or actually try and make it. This is a fun hands-on project for them. They will have about 2 minutes to share them in the final class.

Class 3
This class is going to start with students showing their own gadgets and inventions and telling us about them. Once they finish, we will spend the rest of class figuring out some "Who Dunnits" and solving some imaginary crimes. I will present them with a case evidence and facts, and they will work together to solve the crime. I will designate some of them to be specific roles such as "lead detective" "star witness" "attorney" etc. I will be the overseer of the case and give them hints along the way. I have a few of these planned and we will cover as many as we can in class. They will quickly become Sherlock Holmes. If we have time we will do some final trivia and review on previous class information.

This club is for those who enjoy figuring things out and knowing there are people in history who did this, and there are people now who choose to do this as well.

I am certified of 7 years and teach History and Ancient Cultures on Outschool. I have taught them previous to here as well. I love covering topics in a fun way and putting some projects in with them. I thought a summer camp would be a fun way to do that. There is not any sensitive content that will be covered.
