Class Experience

Calling all sprinkle enthusiasts! Are you ready to put that stash of sprinkles in your pantry to work? Do you love to "think outside the box"? In this week-long camp we'll learn how to make:

- Confetti Cupcakes
- Fruity Yogurt Bark
- Cheesy crackers with Savory Sprinkles
- Pinata Cookies
- Your very own Homemade Sprinkle Blend (from scratch!)

Each day, learners will follow along as I take them step by step through the recipe, demonstrating and providing detailed explanation as we go. I will ask questions to encourage critical thinking throughout the class as well as answer any questions that arise.

In addition to practicing important culinary skills, I deeply value and encourage creativity in all my classes and give ample opportunities for learners to express themselves and explore through food.

Parental Guidance
While many cooking skills can be taught through online instruction, parents/guardians are best to determine their child's comfort and skill in the kitchen. My goal is to build upon what they already know...safely. If you have any questions about whether your child's skill level is appropriate for a particular class, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help. *Depending on the ingredients you choose to use in some of these recipes, a food processor might be needed to chop nuts or dried fruits. We will also be using the oven for the Confetti Cupcakes and Cheesy Crackers. Parental supervision may be required for these portions of the classes. *As you will be responsible for providing ingredients for this class, please be sure to check all food label ingredients for potential allergens.
Supply List
A complete ingredients* / utensils list will be provided in the classroom, accessible upon enrollment.

*Classes are designed with convenience in mind. Therefore, I focus on easy-to-find ingredients that you either already have one hand or are readily available at most supermarkets.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
We will be watching one video about how sprinkles are made in an industrial factory.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I'm Priscilla, a former public school teacher and kids cooking instructor with over 20 years of experience in education and instruction.

I teach classes about food and cooking!

I believe kids learn best through authentic experiences, using their senses and natural curiosity to drive exploration. I've seen first hand with my students and my own child how including kids in every day kitchen activities fosters a lifelong love and appreciation for food and cooking.

I also believe that learning should be FUN in order for it to be most effective. In my classes, we go beyond skills and drills with games, stories, taste tests and plenty of opportunities for creative expression. A belly full of freshly prepared food at the end of class doesn't hurt either!

When I'm not teaching, I'm puttering around the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes or ideas or spending time outdoors with my family.
