In this ongoing, weekly science class, learners will be presented with a new science topic each week. Lessons will be teacher-led from Google Slides presentations consisting of informative, topic-related puzzles, games, videos, and interactive activities to help make learning science engaging, interesting and fun. WORKSHEET: Each lesson includes printable weekly topic-related worksheet (handout) posted to the classroom on Sunday evenings at 9PM EST. The worksheets are an important part of the lesson because I design them to help learners record what they are learning, focus on the lesson content, follow along and remain engaged. The worksheet also serves as a form of evaluation so parents can review it with their learners after the lesson. Please make every effort to download and print the worksheet and gather any necessary materials BEFORE class begins so your learner is prepared and ready for class. I will display the worksheet on the screen to make it easier to complete. Some of the worksheets require glue or tape, colored pencils or crayons, a ruler and scissors. **If you don't have access to a printer, you can download the worksheet to your learner's device BEFORE class begins so they can draw or write on their device to complete the worksheet. Or you can duplicate the worksheet by hand so your learner can write on it in class. *NOTE #1: If you enroll during the week after Sunday evening, I will repost the worksheet for the week to the classroom, so please look for it and print it before class begins. **NOTE #2: I ask learners to arrive at least two minutes early to allow time for them to get settled. I usually start class within one minute of the scheduled start time to allow for the maximum learning experience. Please do your best to be on time. ***NOTE #3: I prefer the children have their cameras turned on without a blurred or virtual background and remain unmuted during class unless their environment is noisy or distracting. I ask frequent questions and call on children to respond. For this class, it's best to have learners sitting in a quiet room without external sound distractions. SESSIONS: (Eastern- New York time zone) A new rotation started on July 22, 2024. The lessons don't typically build on each other so you can start with any of the lessons. Learning Goals
Students will acquire knowledge of a different age-appropriate science topic each week.
Students will demonstrate understanding of what they have learned by recording it on paper and discussing it both during and after class with their family.

Learning Needs
ESL students are welcome to take this class if their English level is intermediate or advanced. The content and pace will most likely be too fast for beginners. You could try a class to see if the pace is acceptable.
Supply List
A one-page worksheet (handout) printed before class begins. You can download it to your learner's device so they can write on their screen to complete it in the event you don't have access to a printer. Please gather any necessary materials for class such as a pencil, crayons, markers, glue, scissors, or a ruler.

External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Meet the teacher
Teacher expertise and credentials
Non-US Teaching Certificate in English to Speakers of Other Languages
Master's Degree in Education from Delaware State College
I taught elementary science in the classroom for many years as well as K-3 after school science classes for six years. Many of the topics covered in this ongoing session were part of that curriculum and very popular with the kids.
