Class Experience
In this introductory writing course we will be establishing trust, confidence, routines, and expectations as we embark on our writing journey together. I believe that participation and risk taking are essential for helping little learners develop a passion and interest in the essential skill of writing. This class will be an exciting and fun time of each day where mistakes are encouraged and the expectation is that students try their best. My most important goal is that students pick up...
This class is taught in English.
5-20 minutes of independent writing each day. We will track our writing stamina over the course of the semester.
I would recommend keeping a folder to keep the many writing samples/ materials we will be creating in this class in one confined space.
I will schedule independent writing conferences where each student and I will meet outside of our scheduled class time to look at their writing and assess it using a rubric. Students will self-assess at the beginning of the course, we will meet between the 6-7 week mark to celebrate progress and set goals for our writing. We will then reassess at the end of our 12 weeks together to mark growth and areas to continue working on as we move forward.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
