In this one-time class, students will learn/review how to create an acrostic poem on the topic of springtime. First, they will learn the steps through description and slideshow. Then I will share an example of my own creation. Then they will have time to create one of their own using images from the springtime slideshow pictures if they need further inspiration. Afterwards, students can then share their poems at whatever level they are comfortable. If there is time, it is often fun to create a poem as a group.

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
Hi there, my name is Sarah Viera and I have been teaching and tutoring in some capacity for 20 years. Over the years, I have tutored elementary students with reading, taught grades six through twelve in language arts, tutored students preparing for state testing, and taught high school students in one-on-one format. I have created curriculum for prekindergarten through seventh grade and homeschool.
My teaching style is interactive, engaging, and fun. I love giving students a chance to participate at the level they are most comfortable. Whether the student loves to share or feels at bit more shy, I am happy to help students learn and grow.
I have a passion for helping students find their creative fire in writing--both creative and formal writing. I find joy in helping students edit and revise writing and developing a comfort level with grammar, punctuation, and writing techniques.
