40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
It's that time of year when the sun comes out, the birds start to chirp and it gets a little bit warmer! This class is all about Spring! Class will start with a discussion of the 4 seasons and the order they come in. We will read "It's Spring!" by Samantha Berger and then learn a little bit about what happens to the weather, plants and some insects! While talking about spring weather, we will discuss what the temperature is like and what clothing we typically wear in the spring. We will do a group activity related to clothing. Next we will talk about how flowers start to bloom in the Spring. Specifically, we will learn about the parts of a flower, the steps to planting a flower and then we will draw some flowers of our own! While talking about insects, we will mainly focus on 2 - bees and butterflies. While learning about the importance of bees, we will play a group alphabet bee hive game! Our butterfly fun will be discussing the butterfly life cycle and then making our own coffee filter butterfly! To wrap up class, we will share our favorite thing about Spring! Come join me for some spring fun! **This class may take longer than the allotted 40 minutes depending on how long the craft portion of the class takes!
Learning Goals
Students will learn a wide range of information about Spring - weather, flowers and insects! They will utilize active listening skills during discussion and story time. They will practice following directions during our craft and turn taking during the group activities. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am excited to be teaching here on Outschool! I am looking forward to teaching early childhood development classes - preschool math, literacy, social skills and more! I have worked with children/students of all ages. My primary focus is with young children as I have a bachelors degree in elementary education (prek - 4th) which I obtained through Grand Canyon University. I have spent the last 10 years working in an early childhood development center, primarily working with children ages 2-4. During these last 10 years I have developed and implemented curriculum across many content areas. Aside from teaching, I am a color guard instructor at both the middle and high school levels.
I think learning is all about having fun, especially with the younger children! My experience of running an early childhood classroom will aide me in providing fun and engaging lessons here on Outschool as well!
When I am not coaching or teaching, I am busy being a wife and a mom! My husband and I have a seven year old son who is currently in second grade and an infant daughter. My older son is very involved in sports, which means I am too! I also enjoy reading, journaling, and watching tv.
I look forward to meeting and working with many young children on this journey!
