In this 1-day Spring Break Science Course, students will be learning about density and why it is important to understand. Students will learn about density and the science behind it through a combination of lecture, class discussion, google slide show, video clips, and other visuals. We will then apply what we learn to creating our own density tower. Once we've created the tower, we will compare each substance and discuss it's properties so we can draw conclusions about why it is more or less dense than other substances. Students are welcome to participate in this class whether or not they have access to all of the lab materials. They can follow along and conduct the experiment at a later time.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to explain the property of density.
Students will be able to compare the density of different substances.
Students will design and conduct a lab investigation.
Students will learn how to draw a conclusion based on their data and observations.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Ms. Kelly and I teach Science and STEM related classes, Intro to Spanish, and writing courses. I have been both a Special educator and a Science teacher for the past eighteen years. One of my favorite things is to make learning fun and meaningful for students of all ages. It's important to me that each student leaves the lesson feeling like they have learned something interesting and useful. In addition to being a teacher, I am also a mom, writer, competitive swimmer, and dog lover!
