This class covers spreadsheets for students with no formal experience using them. We will start with the parts of a spreadsheet. Our first checkpoint will be learners identifying cells correctly. Next, we'll talk about how to make equations, using the 5 operations. During the second class, we'll supercharge the spreadsheet by using functions! These will include functions to perform and automate the mathematical operations, and return data about the series of numbers. We'll also show how to decorate spreadsheets with text color, background colors, and images.
Learning Goals
Students will learn spreadsheet vocabulary.
Students will be able to make equations using the calculating function of the spreadsheet.
Students will be able to use the spreadsheet's functions to make multiple formulas and equations.
Students will be able to enter new data and watch as their formulas are automatically updated!
Students will control the look of their spreadsheet with colors, fonts, and alignment skills.Other Details
Supply List
Have access to a spreadsheet program. Be able to save your files. Some differences may appear with different brands and different versions, but that won't matter, as the concepts are the same. I'll default to Microsoft's Excel, but if more people prefer Google's Sheets, Apple's Numbers, or some other brand, I can demo on those as well.
