This class will incorporate songs, videos, activities, and discussions each week. We'll learn about ways to be kind in our homes and communities by engaging in acts of kindness during and between classes. Learners will be encouraged to discuss ways we can be kind to our family members, friends, and people in the community. This class will be interactive for all learners, and it'll move at a steady pace to encourage engagement! I'm a calm, kind, and enthusiastic teacher. I'm also skilled at modifying instruction based on each child's needs and strengths. The learners will interact with me and with one another by taking part in discussions, activities, and singing songs. We will read a book and/or watch a video in each class to help spark engagement and discussion. Below is the weekly breakdown of topics/activities: Week 1: What does kindness mean? Brainstorm ways we can show kindness. Week 2: Make a card or a picture for someone. Week 3: Call someone and let them know you're thinking of them. Week 4: Collect something around our house to donate to people in need No previous experience or outside knowledge is required to take this class.
Learning Goals
Learners will increase their understanding of what it means to be kind. They will also gain literacy skills during the book reading and discussion. Each week we will address specific ways we can be kind to our families, friends, and people in our communities.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I've been teaching young children for the past 16 years and have experience teaching preschool children of all developmental levels. I have my Masters in Child & Family Studies and my Birth to Kindergarten (BK) License.
I taught for about a year and a half on Outschool during COVID but then returned to a full time job in the public schools and didn’t have time to do both. I’m really excited to start teaching on Outschool again.
I focus heavily on social/emotional learning along with literacy and pre-academic skills. I enjoy using songs, books, activities, and group discussions to teach a variety of skills.
I live in Washington state and am a big fan of the Seattle Seahawks! I have a 11-year old son and a 3-year old golden/lab mix dog.
I look forward to getting to know each of your children during our time together!
