Class Experience

A week long camp style class that would meet each day, culminating in a "performance" at the end of the last class. Improv (improvisation) is the theatrical art of making up scenes on the spot. In this class the student will learn the "rules" and techniques of improv to make a scene successful. In each session the students will be able to test out the newly learned skills in scenes they create with each other! Improv teaches cooperation, listening and public speaking skills. It also gives students a chance to stretch their creative minds in creating new characters and situations.

Each session will start out with warmups. As we discuss each topic we will apply it directly through scenes and games. Each session will build on previous ones.

Session 1 - Improv basics, warmups, getting to know everyone and getting comfortable with the idea of improv.
Session 2 - Understanding the concept of "Yes and", how to move the scene forward, listening to your partners.
Session 3 - Creating characters and using an environment.
Session 4 - Story Telling
Session 5 - Applying it all together in amazingly fun and funny improv games.
