In this one-time class, students shall study US history through the lens of sports

Class experience

US Grade 8 - 11
-Analyze & evaluate Historical narratives of U.S. History 
-Demonstrate historical knowledge of U.S. History through evidence from sports
-Practice & master Social Studies skills 
-Practice Reading Comprehension
-Practice Critical Thinking
-Practice verbalizing & expressing ideas
-Learning Vocabulary
-Reviewing previously known Historical knowledge
-Develop tolerance at listening to other perspectives 
-Use evidence to support arguments & claims
I am a long time state-certified history teacher and speech and debate coach who has taught sports history several times. I take great joy in watching talented people carry out amazing  actions, whatever that sport may be.  I also believe that sports and how we think about athletes reveal a great deal about our world and how we live in that world.

I also believe that connecting such stories to our broader world is the key to  both  “having  fun” and “learning enough to get promoted to the adult table at Thanksgiving”...
