Many of us take great joy in playing sports as athletes and watching sports as fans. We don’t always take the time to think about how ‘breaking down doors to opportunity’ surround sports and the entire ‘athletic experience. All of these influence what we as “People! I am a long time state-certified history teacher and speech and debate coach who has taught sports history several times. I take great joy in watching talented people carry out amazing actions, whatever that sport may be. I also believe that sports and how we think about athletes reveal a great deal about our world and how we live in that world.
