This discussion group will focus on everything relating to the world of sports. All students will have the chance to share their views, and to make new friends who share their love of sports. In the first class session we will talk about some examples of ethical behavior in sports, and some examples of unethical behavior. In addition, I will find out from the students what sports, issues, and events are of most interest to them. Topics for the remaining class sessions will be learner-directed and guided by student interest, and by what's going on in the world of sports that week. Examples of issues we might discuss include: Can the U.S. Women's National soccer team win a gold medal at this year's Olympics? How have the new rules on the shift and the pitch clock affected baseball? Which teams have the best mascots in sports? Which team will win the next NBA championship? What were the highlights (or lowlights!) of recent games? What do box scores and other stats show us about how individual players are doing this season?
