Class Experience
This course will teach the student to take their passion for sports and merge it with statistical analysis to have an unbiased view on performance on the field or court. This class will potentially take time and research outside of class time to allow the students to dive in to find the best values. The students will learn the main statistics tracked in each major sport. They will then learn how that translates to wins and how to build a team with this information.
I have played collegiate athletics and have been working on my MBA. This is a passion I have and am constantly analyzing the numbers behind everything. I look forward to sharing this passion with your learners.
Each week they will be expected to use the information learned in class for a weekly assignment to build their teams. This will probably take at least a few hours.
It might be helpful for the learner to have a basic idea of how to use google sheets or microsoft excel. It will help with making the running of analysis more efficient and organized. I can give them a quick tutorial if they have no experience and will poll the class if I need to do one. The student should have access to the internet to be able to find the numbers to do their own analysis.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each learner will post their work in the classroom and present it. They will get live and commented feedback for their assignments.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
