Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Each week your student will submit their latest writing project prior to class. However, some students prefer to use class time as a dedicated time each week to write. This helps ensure they are working on their projects bit by bit each week. These projects can be long- or short-term projects depending on the student’s preference. Some students may be working on books, while other essays or poetry. During class, they will receive feedback from me. We will learn concepts each week to take their writing skills to the next level. When appropriate I will cover writing concepts such as personal narratives or creating characters, as well as language arts constructs such as grammar, vocabulary, parts of speech, and sentence types to help your student improve their writing skills. I want to help your student become the best writer they can be. The ultimate intention is for your writer to create bodies of work that are ready for publication if they so choose. Several of my students have chosen to become published authors. I am a published author. I do not personally publish student writing pieces, nor will I advise the students on publishing companies. Of course, there is no guarantee of being published.

Whether your child is an experienced writer or just starting out, this class is the perfect place for them to receive feedback, get inspired, and build their writing skills. I will guide them through the ups and downs of the writing journey.
This is learner-directed and based on each student’s own writing projects, therefore a weekly lesson plan is not applicable.

I enjoy working with students working to help them hone their writing craft. My teaching style is patient, engaging, and interactive. I work very hard to engage students during class. I look forward to working with your student on all things writing!
