In Splatoon 3, you are an Inkling that must help to claim "turf" for your team. Use your paint roller, paint gun, or blaster to color the board with your team's color. The team that "inks up" the most turf is the winner! At all classes: Students will join the teacher's private game. Each game is given a password. Students will play as many rounds of the game as time allows. During class, I will allow each student to choose a mode and a map in turn. Students will also be allowed to choose their preferred teams when it is their turn or may choose the random teams. We will play the round and then another student will be chosen. NOTE: In the event that this class takes place during a Splatfest, students may choose to play Splatfest rounds with other students in the class that are also on their team and the class may move to breakout rooms. As with all of my classes, I like for students to have a class that it "theirs" and I will do my best to make the class amazing for your child. I encourage good sportsmanship. Please come to class with the mindset that everyone is here to have fun! We can be competitive, but do your best to be kind and gracious as well. Refunds will not be given for students that do not have the Splatoon 3 game or for technology problems on the end of the student. 🚨To play, students MUST own the game Splatoon 3, a Nintendo Switch, and be subscribed to Nintendo Switch online. Prior to the start of class, each student must send their "Nintendo Friend Code" to the teacher so that the teacher can invite the student into the private game. Parental Guidance
Prior to the class, the enrolled student (or parent) must send the teacher their Nintendo Switch friend code. This can be found by following these steps:
1. Select your user icon from the HOME Menu to open your user page.
2. Select "Profile", and then check the right side of the screen to find your friend code.
3. Send this code to the teacher via the Outschool message system. Please do not share your friend code on the classroom page. Send it directly to the teacher through the Outschool message system.
Splatoon 3 is considered a "first person shooter" game. However, the guns that are used look like bright colored water guns and the "ammunition" is paint. The rating for this game is Everyone 10+. You can read more about the game here: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/splatoon-3-switch
The following is more information from Nintendo regarding COPPA compliance and Nintendo
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/387/~/what-is-the-child-online-privacy-protection-act%3F-%28coppa%29
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law that applies to the online collection of personal information from children under 13 years of age.
Before children age 12 and under can participate in any online activities, a parent or guardian must set up a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) or Nintendo Account for children under age 13. To verify that a parent or guardian has granted consent, they will need to provide a valid credit card number when setting up a Nintendo Account or NNID for the child.
Once a child’s account has been created, parents can set restrictions on using specific online games, applications, and features.
Supply List
Each student enrolled in the class must have: 1. Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite Console 2. The game Splatoon 3 for Nintendo Switch 3. A subscription to Nintendo's online service

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Westminster College
Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.
Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.
I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
