Spin It to Win It!: Random Building Challenges With Lego® Bricks

Please feel free to request an alternate time for this class. I am slowly adding times into my schedule for this class! Ready, set, build! In this ongoing class we will spin a randomized wheel loaded with building challenges using Lego® Bricks. Each week we will spin the wheel and begin building the challenge given to us by the wheel. In this class you can expect the following each week: 1. I will use a randomized spinner loaded with 65 (or more) random challenges. We will start out by spinning the wheel and picking our challenge for the day. 2. Students will build for 30-35 minutes and for the last ten minutes of class we will present our building projects to the class. I will set a timer to start and stop building. When the time is up students will then vote for their winners choice by placing their vote in the chat box. In order to win students must get the most votes from their classmates. Students cannot vote for themselves and the teacher will cast a vote only in the event we have a tie. Once the votes are tallied the student who has the most votes will win their next weeks class for free. 3. This is a more competitive class than other building classes I run. For that reason please prepare your learner that not everyone will win. If your learner requires a lot of prompting and encouragement to get building this class may not be suitable for them. I would suggest my other challenge classes for learners who may struggle with a more competitive class. I have classes designed for students ages 5-12 that are non competitive and relaxed in nature. 4. Due to needing to vote during class, I will require the minimum of 3 students enrolled in order to run this class. In the even we do not have 3 students enrolled I will delay the start date of this class by one week to gain learners. I will communicate with parents 1 days prior to class if there are not enough students enrolled. 5. Please have students arrive in class on time and ready to jump right into a build. Due to the nature of this class students will not want to miss the random spin of the wheel and onset of building. We will build on a timer and they will lose building time if they arrive late to class. We will begin promptly at the start time to ensure maximum building time! 6. In an effort to be fair to all students I will pause a winner from winning once they have won 2 weeks in a row. After one week of "sitting out" of votes that student will be moved back into the vote for the next week. This alleviates one learner from being the only winner but does not remove them from winning future weeks. This class requires students have at least a small plastic bricks set and a spot to build. I also suggest a base plate for ease of building with some challenges. **** Please note this is not an "instructional" class. Students will be given the random challenge and expect to dive right in and build. If your learner requires a great deal of prompting and encouragement to build please consider my other class for this age range that is more casual and social oriented. Parents please note that this class age range is 7-12 years of age. I am intentionally holding firm to that age range as this class is designed for older students. Please see my other classes for students that fall below that age category! Thank you for understanding in an effort to provide a positive experience for all students enrolled! ** The zoom window will open approximately 2 minutes prior to class start time! ** I will accommodate transfers outside of 24 hours notice. This allows me to transfer your student and also recoup a learner from the seat they previously occupied. I do appreciate your understanding that for my ability to allow new learners to access class. ** I do not grant refund requests for missed classes. Please refer to Outschool for refund requests related to illness or changed schedules which fall outside this classes limited refund policy. **In the event that less than 2 students join class (less than the minimum of 3) we will still build but will not cast votes for a winner.
