We'll explore how adjectives can profoundly affect the meaning of a sentence by changing what adjectives are used. We'll view slides to help illustrate the relationship between nouns and adjectives. Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a veteran homeschooling mama with over 20 years experience. While my first two children were typical learners with no learning struggles, my youngest son introduced me to an entirely new world of education when he was diagnosed with a handful of specific learning disabilities in the first grade. Because services were impossible to find in our rural area, I decided I'd do whatever it took to help him learn in a way that made sense to his brain.
From 2017- 2018, I attended Dyslexia Training Institute and became a certified Orton-Gillingham practitioner. Two years prior to certification, I was trained and volunteered at Dyslexia Reading Solutions for Children in Moline, Illinois. Since that time I've been trained by Handwriting Without Tears to teach print and cursive, and I am an accredited Registered Instructor with Institute for Excellence in Writing. Recently I became Level 1 certified with Equipping Minds, a cognitive therapy method. Each and every class, training, or certification I have obtained fulfills a passion I have to help my son (and other kids just like him) to reach his highest potential in a way he can learn.
Starting in 2012, I have taught for homeschool co-ops in both paid and unpaid positions teaching everything from science, art, English, phonemic awareness, phonics, cursive, handwriting, history, geography, writing, to music. After receiving my OG certification, I opened a private practice, seeing students one-on-one for dyslexia tutoring both in person and online.
Outschool is just another avenue I can use to help students realize they can love learning when they are taught in a way that makes sense to them. I'm extremely passionate about what I do and how I do it. I'm a firm believer in I Do, We Do, You Do teaching style and strive to model it in all my interactions with learners. I'd love to see your child in one of my classes!
