Average rating:4.9Number of reviews:(43)
In this 8-week course, learners will learn grammar rules and practice using them in written work
Class Experience
This class uses a magical theme to learn about English grammar! This class is specifically designed to teach grammar objectives appropriate for learners working at a 9- and 10-year-old written English level (US Grade 4 or UK Year 5), or those who wish to revise these grammatical elements. Each week we will look at a different part of grammar, using examples and learning through interaction, games and practice using them in written work. After every lesson there will be additional practice...
Learners will demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing.
I hold a highly-graded 'A' Level (UK assessments taken at 17/18 years old and equivalent in content to AP exams in the US) in English Language. I have continued to demonstrate an advanced degree of language in Postgraduate and Masters assignments and dissertations. As a teacher I have been Lead Teacher for English in two schools, which included designing and maintaining the curriculum for reading and writing for all pupils from 4-11 years old.
Homework each week will consist of a short written exercise or practice questions to answer, to be completed before the next lesson. Time to complete would be around 20-30 minutes each week. After week 7 there will be a short test to be done and submitted prior to the final lesson.
Learners will need paper and a pen or pencil to write with. Learners may wish to use a notebook or folder to keep each day's notes together for revision.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
A short, written report if requested by the adult.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
